Paying when you collect your hire vehicle

Unfortunately we no longer accept cash alone on collection. We can however take cash alongside a credit card as a part payment at the end of your journey.

Remember to bring your credit card when you pick up your hire vehicle. This must be in the same name as the main driver.

 Yes. Our standard hire terms and conditions still apply when you use a voucher.

Any extra costs such as fuel and airport charges will be taken using your chosen payment method saved in your account.

We simply hold an amount against your credit card. The amount depends whether you chose to pay upfront when you booked your vehicle or later over the counter. Read full details of our pre-authorisation process here.

If you already paid, we simply place a hold on your card to cover the cost of any extras, fuel and services you didn’t pay upfront.

If you chose to pay when you return your hire vehicle, we will hold the full cost of the hire against your credit card plus extras and the estimated cost of a tank of fuel.

This is just a security measure. We won’t take any money without your approval.

Remember to factor in the amount that will be held against your credit card, so you have enough to spend on your journey.

You are always welcome to purchase an upgrade when you collect your hire vehicle.

If you are linked to a frequent flyer loyalty programme which offers upgrades, we will of course honour this.

If you are unsatisfied with your choice, we will of course try to change it – depending on what’s available.

If you collected it, simply return it to the hire station. Or if your vehicle was delivered, please call the number on the front of your rental agreement.

We recommend taking your credit card, because some countries don’t accept debit cards. If they do, only Visa (except Electron) and MasterCard debit cards are suitable.

You can’t use a debit card to hire a vehicle in Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Iceland, Belgium, Luxembourg and Canada. You can only use a credit card to hire a vehicle in these countries – even if you pay online.

Unfortunately we don’t accept cards with Maestro, Solo, JCB or Cirrus logos.

Remember, the name on the card must match the driving licence of the main driver. Someone else can’t pay on your behalf.
